Babineau Named Head Coach/GM

Aug 26, 2015

The Euless Jr. Stars, proud members of the NA3HL, have named Don Babineau as the team’s new Head Coach and General Manager.

Babineau’s hiring comes during the same month that the Dallas Jr. Stars organization was purchased by KWM Kids, Inc. The KWM Kids, Inc. ownership group consists of Michelle and Kevin Bryant, who also own the Coulee Region Chill of the NAHL and the La Crosse Freeze of the NA3HL. The team was then later renamed the Euless Jr. Stars.

“Coach Babineau has extensive experience in coaching junior hockey, particularly at the Tier III level. He knows what it takes to coach at this level and to help move players on to the next level,” stated Michelle Bryant.  “Immediately after his interview we knew he was the coach we wanted. He really cares about player development and helping players fulfill their dreams of playing hockey at the next level.  He has a high motivation to jump in and roll his sleeves up to make this team successful in year one.  We are excited to have him a part of our Chill/Freeze/Jr. Stars hockey family.”

Babineau’s extensive coaching experience in junior hockey was most recently with the Maple Grove Energy of the now defunct Minnesota Junior Hockey League (MNJHL), where he turned around the program to become a playoff team.

"I am excited for the opportunity the Bryant’s have given me.  I am looking forward to coaching junior hockey again and bringing the Minnesota style of hockey to the Southern Division of the NA3HL.  After our try out camp, I feel we have a solid core group of guys that will makes us contenders to go far in playoffs with the end goal of reaching the Silver Cup,” stated Babineau.

Babineau’s coaching career began with the Minnesota Owls in the MNJHL. He helped the Owls to multiple national tournaments. After working with the Owls, Babineau was at the helm of the Hudson Crusaders. He ended up coaching in the MNJHL for 15 years. Don's leadership and dedication as a coach has helped place multiple players into collegiate hockey, Juniors, and the NHL. He also had junior hockey coaching stints with the Northwest Wisconsin Knights and the St. Paul Lakers.

This past season, Babineau coached high school hockey for the Armstrong/Cooper Wings in New Hope, Minnesota where Babineau and his wife Lisa reside.
