Dallas beats Sugar Land 9-1 as Stock nets hat trick

The xSugar Land Imperials could not stop the xDallas Jr. Stars\’ Tommy Stock, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-1 win.

Stock notched his first tally 1:05 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:56 into the second and at 17:05 into the second.

xDallas was led by goalie Chris Mallon, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Mallon managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.46 prior to the game.

The Jr. Stars made xSugar Land\’s goalies to work all game long, taking 49 shots and forcing 40 saves. Matt Douglas made 29 stops and Christopher Otap made 11. xDallas put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Imperials to score on any of their five power plays. The Jr. Stars surpassed their usual scoring output this season. xDallas averages 3.4 goals per game. The Jr. Stars got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

xDallas additionally got points from Cam Choate, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Raurie Petrich, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Stephen Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Corey Burns, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. xDallas also got a goal from Jake Gevaart as well. More assists for xDallas came via Jon Gibson, Matt Zaragoza, and Alex MacInnis, who contributed one a piece and Jack Duhe and Colin South, who each chipped in two.

xSugar Land managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Imperials finished below its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. xSugar Land\’s offense operated below it season average. The Imperials average 3.7 goals per game.

xDallas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
