Dallas holds on for 5-3 win against Sugar Land

The Sugar Land Imperials tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Dallas Jr. Stars held on for a 5-3 victory.

Dallas made the score 5-2 on a goal by Niko Jansen at 10:55 in the third period, and Sugar Land got as close as 5-3 when Cole Sharrah scored 19:24 into the third period.

 

Stephen Smith had two goals to lead the Jr. Stars to victory. Smith's tallies came at 19:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dallas and 19:15 into the second to make the score 4-1 Dallas.

Dallas kept the Imperials' goalie busy throughout the game, and Colton Anderson made 38 saves on 43 shots.

Dallas additionally got points from Raurie Petrich, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Dallas also got a goal from Alex Cyrenne as well. More assists for Dallas came via Cam Choate, Jake Gevaart, and Tommy Stock, who each chipped in two.

Sugar Land was led by Yves Bader, who tallied two goals and one assist. Bader scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Matthew Winkle picked up the assist. Bader's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Dallas with 15:33 left in the third period. Sharrah provided the assist. Sugar Land also got points from Sharrah, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Sugar Land received assists from Matthew Davies, who had one.

Chris Mallon rejected 16 shots on goal for the Jr. Stars. Dallas incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Imperials incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
