The Jr. Stars crushed the Spirit 5-2

Matthew Lenz came up big, stopping 34 of 36 shots throughout the game. The Mid Cities Jr. Stars took the lead late in the second on a goal from Matthew Taylor.

Matt Greco had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 2 goals and Nick Sheridan chipped in with 2 assists. Gannen Erickson contributed with 2 assists.

During the second, Brain opened the scoring for the Jr. Stars with a goal at 8:00 with a helper from his linemate Sheridan. Speights netted a goal at 10:15 with helpers from his linemates, Sheridan and Matthews. Kasai finally put the Spirit on the board with a goal at 13:20 with assists from teammates Erickson and Dacey. Taylor answered for the Jr. Stars with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 15:31. Greco scored a goal at 18:46 with an assist from Schulz.

During the third period, Butler answered for the Spirit with a goal at 8:18 with helpers from his linemates, Grunkemeyer and Erickson. Greco answered for the Jr. Stars with a goal at 18:01 with an assist from Kesling.

Mid Cities’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Lenz’s big night as he stopped 34 of the 36 shots he faced. Lenz’s counterpart, Pehrson, also had a big night, managing to stop 52 of 57, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Mid Cities Jr. Stars’ record to (23-12-1-0).
