The Jr. Stars shutout the Spirit 7-0

The Mid Cities Jr. Stars' offense had a big night, peppering the College Station Spirit with 66 shots throughout the game, to go along with Matthew Lenz's shutout. The Mid Cities Jr. Stars took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Matt Hutton and never looked back.

Matt Hutton delivered for his team with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Matt Greco did his part, adding 2 goals.

In the first period, Hutton opened the scoring for the Jr. Stars with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 11:50 with helpers from his linemates, Sheridan and Koehn. Speights deposited a goal at 15:33 with an assist from Sheridan.

During the second, Kesling netted a goal at 12:07 with helpers from his linemates, Sheridan and Speights. Greco quickly followed with a goal at 12:53 with assists from his linemates, Koehn and Schulz.

In the third, Smith put in a goal at 2:36 with a helper from his teammate Hutton. Hutton quickly followed with a goal at 2:54 with assists from Smith and Fugger. Greco quickly followed with a goal at 3:57 with helpers from his linemates, Brain and Schulz.

The Jr. Stars’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Lenz’s shutout, as he stopped all 18 of the shots he faced. Lenz’s counterpart, O’toole, also had a big night, managing to stop 59 of 66, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Mid Cities Jr. Stars’ record to (11-5-1-0).
