The Jr. Stars shutout the Spirit 9-0

Trey Rooney had a big night with 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists) as the Mid Cities Jr. Stars crushed the College Station Spirit 9-0 in a home game at Dr. Pepper StarCenter-Euless in Mid Cities. In addition, the Mid Cities Jr. Stars' offense had a big night, peppering the Spirit with 57 shots throughout the game, to go along with Matthew Lenz's shutout. The Mid Cities Jr. Stars took the lead early in the first on a goal from Matthew Taylor and never looked back.

Brandon Speights did his part, adding 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and Nick Sheridan chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

In the first period, Taylor opened the scoring for the Jr. Stars with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 4:47 with a helper from his teammate Koehn. Speights netted a goal at 7:17. Rooney deposited a goal at 10:45 with a helper from Speights.

During the second, Rooney put in a goal at 0:56 with an assist from his linemate Sheridan. Rooney scored a goal at 12:45 with an assist from Speights. Rooney netted a goal at 18:15.

In the third, Brain deposited a goal at 3:38 with helpers from Greco and Allen. Fisher put in a goal at 13:03 with assists from Rooney and Lenz. Sheridan scored a goal at 18:05 with a helper from fellow Jr. Stars forward Rooney.

Mid Cities’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Lenz’s shutout, as he stopped all 22 of the shots he faced. Lenz’s counterpart, Pehrson, also had a big night, managing to stop 48 of 57, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Mid Cities Jr. Stars’ record to (27-15-1-0).
