Topeka wins tough contest against Dallas, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Topeka Capitals escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Jr. Stars.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Connor Nichols secured the win for Topeka with a goal in the third period.

Joe Stoneburner had a great game for the Capitals, netting two goals. Stoneburner scored short handed at 12:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Topeka and again while 18:12 into the first to make the score 2-0 Topeka.

Topeka pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

The Capitals\’ penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Dallas power plays. Topeka kept Dallas\’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Chris Mallon made 34 saves on 37 shots.

More assists for Topeka came via Brandon Hawkins, Benton Deanovich, and Jaydn Munnelly, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Stars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Dallas was helped by Colin South, who had one goal. South scored 13:42 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Blake McIntyre also scored for Dallas. In addition, Dallas received assists from Niko Jansen and Tommy Stock, who contributed one a piece.

Jude Hull recorded 24 saves for the Capitals. The Jr. Stars incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
