Weekend Recap: Jr. Stars Split Series Against Drillers

Dec 7, 2015

The Euless Jr. Stars continue improving against the Louisiana Drillers, split weekend series.

Saturday Night: Euless Jr. Stars 5, Louisiana Drillers 2

The Jr. Stars went into Saturday nights contest looking to build off of their past two weekends in which they went 4-1 overall including a weekend sweep against Louisiana.

The Jr. Stars got just what they wanted but it wasn't without hard work and determination.  Louisiana took the momentum early with a 1-0 lead but the Jr. Stars' forward Trent Wolter put a halt to the Driller heading into the second, scoring with under four minutes left in the first.  Euless proceeded to take over the game by going up 3-1 through the second with goals from Kayne Fedor and Nick Snyder.  The Drillers made it interesting at the start of the third but Euless wasn't having any of it, tallying two more goals in the final period courtesy of Wyatt Gentry and a Triston Wilson power-play goal.

Thomas Bailey was everything head coach Don Babineau could've asked for, saving 42/44 shots on the night.

Sunday: Euless Jr. Stars 0, Louisiana Drillers 3

The tables turned on Sunday as the Jr. Stars failed to get anything past Louisiana's goalie Sean Angle.  Angle saved just 23 shots on the night but the Jr. Stars had five power-play opportunities throughout the contest to get on the board.

Louisiana scored one goal each period with their last one coming on an empty net with just :49 seconds to play.  Everett Yasinski was in net for Euless, saving 22/24 shots.

Euless returns home this weekend with a Friday and Saturday night series against Texas.  Puck drops at 7:30 both nights.
