Dallas vanquishes Gillette in shootout, 2-1 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Dallas Jr. Stars defeated the Gillette Wild in a shootout 2-1 (3-2 SO).

The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams. Gillette\’s shootout goals were scored by TJ McMinn and Alex King. Dallas\’ other shootout goals were scored by Tyler Valentin and Blake McIntyre.

The Jr. Stars overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Dallas trailed 1-0 after a power play goal by the Wild\’s Mitchell McEwan at 10:14 in the first period. The Jr. Stars tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Alex Williams at 17 seconds in the third period.

Dallas was led by goalie Anthony Galliart, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Galliart certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.69 entering the contest.

The Jr. Stars\’ offense rang up 34 shots on Gillette\’s net.

Other players who recorded assists for Dallas were McIntyre and Travis Hall, who contributed one each.

The Wild stifled Dallas\’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gillette\’s offense operated below its season average. The Wild average 4.0 goals per game.

More assists for Gillette came via Bryce Mitzel and Kyle Reilly, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Stars totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. For Dallas, Brandon Baker was ejected from the game. Sean Kelley rejected 32 shots on goal for Gillette. The Wild incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
