Jr. Stars drop pair to Brahmas, bounce back against Spirit

Oct 11, 2016

With having 6 games in 7 days, the Euless Jr. Stars struggled last Thursday and Friday as they dropped a 2-game series to their in-state rival, the Texas Jr. Brahmas.  Thursday’s contest in Euless featured an offensive explosion as Texas fired 60 shots on goal, connecting on 8 of them as they defeated the Jr. Stars 8-1.  Forward William Rooney scored the lone point for Euless in the second period.  Friday did not bring much relief for the Jr. Stars as they fell to the Brahmas 9-1, the sole goal coming from forward Remy Kesling.

Saturday’s return to the Dr. Pepper StarCenter was much needed for Euless as they bounced back from their previous two games, defeating the College Station Spirit 6-5.  William Rooney provided the winning goal for the Jr. Stars in the third period for his fifth goal on the season.  Forward Thomas Delaney was also a key contributor in the contest, accounting for three points (1 goal, 2 assists).

The Euless Jr. Stars will look to improve their home-ice record (3-3) this weekend as they play host to the Atlanta Capitals this Friday and Saturday at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter.  .  Forwards Kayne Fedor and Thomas Delaney lead the way for the Jr. Stars with 17 points on the young season.   The Capitals return to the road after dropping two in a row at home.  The Caps have a trio of blossoming players in forwards Jesse Brown and Anton Minaev and defenseman Tristen Poliseno, all of whom have accounted for five points thus far this season.  Puck drop for both games is at 7:30 p.m. at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter.
