Jr. Stars handle spirit before dropping pair to division leading Jr. Brahmas

Dec 7, 2016

Thursday featured an offensive explosion for the Euless Jr. Stars as they took care of the College Station Spirit 10-3.  It’s the second time this season Euless has defeated College Station by the same score.  Jr. Stars forward Chase Deacon led the way for Euless, scoring twice while also contributing an assist.  Fellow running mate and forward Remy Kesling also added a pair of goals on the afternoon as Euless improved to 5-1 against their in-state rival this season.

Friday’s contest between the Jr. Stars and Jr. Brahmas was almost over before it started, as Texas got off to a lightning fast start and led after the first period, 4-0.  Forward Hunter Bersani opened the game with two of his team’s four goals in the opening period.  The fast start proved to be too much for Euless, as they fell 5-2.

The Jr. Stars returned to the NYTEX Sports Centre to face the Jr. Brahmas once more, this time nearly pulling out a hard fought victory before falling by the score of 3-2.  Euless kicked off the scoring with a goal from forward Anthony Chavez (Sheridan, Caesar), his third of the season.  Texas answered back with two of their own before Euless ended the first period with another goal, this time from defenseman Kyle Dudley (Deacon, Linna).  The game was scoreless after that, however, until the third period when the Jr. Brahmas scored early on a goal by forward Melker Kroon (Dekumbis, Bersani).  The losses drop Euless to 13-7-2, and six points behind the South Division leading Jr. Brahmas.

The Euless Jr. Stars will have the weekend off before heading to the NA3HL showcase in Blaine, MN where they take on the La Crosse Freeze.  Other showcase opponents include the Granite City Lumberjacks and Pittsburgh Vengeance.
