Jr. Stars split home series with Ducks, rest up for Spirit, Brahmas

Nov 25, 2016

Last week’s matchup between the Euless Jr. Stars and Point Mallard Ducks was a back-and-forth affair as both teams traded goals in the first period.  Euless took control in the second, however, after a goal by star forward Kayne Fedor, his 15th of the season.  The Jr. Stars went on to add another goal in the third to go up 3-1 before Point Mallard stormed back with two goals late in the third to send the game to overtime.  Forward Cody LaValley secured the comeback for the Ducks, scoring the OT winner.  Forward Mark Revniaga led the way for Point Mallard, knocking in two goals on the afternoon.

Friday’s matchup also featured an overtime thriller, this time going to the home team Jr. Stars.  Euless looked as though they would cruise to a comfortable win, as they led 5-2 midway through the third period.  Point Mallard had other plans, however, as they scored three times in the final seven minutes to send the game to OT.  Forward William Rooney was the hero for Euless though, as the 18 year-old scored the game winner, his 11th goal of the season.  The win improves Euless’ record to 12-5-2 on the year.

The Jr. Stars will enjoy a well deserved break from play, as they rest up for the College Station Spirit Dec. 1st at home before taking to the road to face the Texas Jr. Brahmas.
