Rochon’s hat trick boosts Dallas over Sugar Land, 5-0

Josig Rochon lifted the Dallas Jr. Stars to a 5-0 victory with a hat trick against the Sugar Land Imperials.

Rochon\’s first goal came 14:59 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:31 into the second and at 3:13 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 20:00 into the second period. Six fighting penalties were dished out along with 13 game misconducts.

Dallas\’ penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled five minors and three majors for 55 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Stars surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. Dallas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Jr. Stars\’ offense rang up 43 shots on Sugar Land\’s net.

Dallas also got points from Blake McIntyre, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jordan Schultz also scored for Dallas. More assists for Dallas came via Blake Blundred, who had two and Colton Schultz, Aaron Torres, Connor Perisho, Axel Olson, Kayne Fedor, and Travis Hall, who contributed one each.

The Imperials were often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and six majors for 162 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 35.0 minutes per game Sugar Land had been spending in the box. The Imperials were held below their usual level of production. Sugar Land averages 3.0 goals per game.

Chris Mallon rejected 17 shots on goal for Dallas. The Jr. Stars registered two goals on 12 power play opportunities. Team\’s Tommy Estenes and Schultz were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Colton Anderson made 38 saves for the Imperials on 43 shots. For Sugar Land, Matthew Winkle, Ryan Meyer, Tameer Bakkar, John Cuni, and Kenny Garrett were ejected from the contest.
