Stars Add Schultz Brothers

Jun 17, 2014

June 18, 2014 – The Stars continued shaping their squad for next season with the announcement of the signing of two forwards; Colton and Jordan Schultz from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The pair skated for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders in the MHSHL and were tendered to the Stars at the Americas' High School Hockey Showcase in Pittsburgh. The Stars' Midwest Scout Eric Thompson initially identified the brothers as candidates to make the move to Juniors and was instrumental in getting the two signed.

Jordan Schultz (F) comes to the Stars after playing for the Roughriders. In 24 games Jordan notched 5G and 6A. At 5'7" and 150 lbs, Schultz is feisty, and plays much bigger as he logged 89 PIMS. Jordan was one of the quickest players at the Pittsburgh Showcase and proved particularly adept at killing penalties. His speed on the forecheck presented a huge challenge to opposition defensemen leading to a number of turnovers.

Colton Schultz (F) played alongside Jordan at Cedar Rapids. In 27 games he accounted for 23 points (4G, 19A). Colton, at 5'10 and 170 lb also possesses great foot speed and is extremely aggressive on the forecheck. He works hard to be first on the puck and is constantly in motion looking to set up teammates. Colton plays a physical style and it showed last year as he had 61 PIMS for the Roughriders.

Stars' GM Reggie Hall commented about the addition of the Schultz brothers, "Eric intially brought these players to our attention and it was a pleasure to watch them work for Team Midwest in April. They are quick, have a strong desire to be first on the puck and don't mind mucking it up in the corners. They make things happen everytime they touch the ice."

Congrats on your move to Dallas.
