Sugar Land beats Dallas 6-4 as Cuni gets hat trick

A hat trick by John Cuni was the highlight in Imperials\’ 6-4 win against the Dallas Jr. Stars.

Cuni got on the scoresheet 10:31 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:02 into the first and at 4:44 into the second.

The Sugar Land Imperials surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Sugar Land averages 3.4 goals per game.

Sugar Land additionally got points from Matthew Winkle, who also had one goal and one assist and Matthew Jung, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Frazer Ellis also scored for Sugar Land. Other players who recorded assists for Sugar Land were Alex Tilman and Kenny Garrett, who each chipped in one.

Dallas\’ offense rang up 39 shots on the Imperials\’ net.

The Jr. Stars were led by Wyatt Gentry, who racked up one goal. Gentry scored on the power play 3:15 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Sugar Land. Dallas had gotten the advantage when Sugar Land\’s Anthony Chesrow was sent off for interference. Travis Hall picked up the assist. Others who scored for Dallas included Brooks Blackburn, Tyler Valentin, Blake McIntyre, and Aaron Torres, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dallas received assists from Kayne Fedor, who had two and Kody Wagner and Blake Blundred, who contributed one each.

Colton Anderson rejected 35 shots on goal for the Imperials. Sugar Land incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Chance Turner took the loss and made eight saves before being replaced by Chris Mallon who made 13 saves. The Jr. Stars incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
