Texas outlasts Dallas, 5-4

The Texas Jr. Brahmas and the Dallas Jr. Stars were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Texas made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-4.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Paolo DiGenova secured the win for the Jr. Brahmas with a goal in the third period.

Texas was sparked by DiGenova, who finished with one goal and one assist. DiGenova scored 9:55 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Texas. Mykyta Sheptytsky picked up the assist.

The Jr. Brahmas forced Dallas goalie Chris Mallon to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Texas\’ goal total was higher than its season average. The Jr. Brahmas average 2.7 goals per game.

Texas also got points from Sheptytsky, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Texas also had goals scored by Zach McPherson, Thomas Puetz, and Dixon Whitehead, who scored one goal each. More assists for Texas came via Austin Davis, Anthony Koslow, and Ian Atencio, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Stars put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Texas to score on any of its six power plays.

Dallas was helped by Kayne Fedor, who registered one goal. Fedor scored 9:06 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Kody Wagner assisted on the tally. Dallas additionally got points from Blake Blundred, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Dallas included Jake Fernow and Josig Rochon, who each put in one. In addition, Dallas received assists from Brooks Blackburn, Blake McIntyre, and Bobby Dringman, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Brahmas\’ Quinton Reynolds stopped 15 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Texas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Chris Mallon made 32 saves for the Jr. Stars on 37 shots. Dallas incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
