Weekend Recap: Jr. Stars Go 2-1 Over Sugar Land

Friday Night: Euless Jr. Stars 2, Sugar Land Imperials 1

Triston Wilson was all over the ice for Euless, as he tallied two goals in Euless' 2-1 win over Sugar Land.

Wilson found the back of the net on the power play 16:41 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 17:35 into the third to make the score 2-1 Euless.

Euless' Thomas Bailey was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. Bailey managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.61 prior to the game.

In addition, Euless received assists from Benjamin Kraus, Brandon Wade, Kayne Fedor, and Kyle Dudley, who each chipped in one.

Sugar Land was held below its usual level of production. Sugar Land puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Euless was unable to stop Sugar Land from sending pucks towards the net, and Sugar Land eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Sugar Land was led by RC Randall, who scored the team's only goal. Randall scored on the power play 14:37 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Sugar Land. A cross checking penalty on Dudley had put Sugar Land on the power play. Alex Norwinski picked up the assist.

Euless incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tristan Collins recorded 22 saves for Sugar Land. Sugar Land incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Saturday Night: Euless Jr. Stars 7, Sugar Land Imperials 5

Euless climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat Sugar Land, 7-5.

Euless let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. Euless took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Triston Wilson at 2:26 in the first period. Euless found itself down 5-2 after Sugar Land's Nicholas Krivokuca put the puck home at 8:20 in the second period. After tying things up at 5-5 on a goal by Benjamin Kraus at 18:32 in the second, Euless got the game-winner from Kraus at 8:57 in the third period.

Euless found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Euless averages 2.2 goals per game.

Euless also got points from Kraus, who also finished with two goals and two assists and Kayne Fedor, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Ian Linna also scored for Euless. More assists for Euless came via Aaron Wade, Kyle Dudley, and Nick Snyder, who contributed one each and Brandon Wade and Wyatt Gentry, who each chipped in two.

The defensemen of Sugar Land were also effective in Euless' zone, and came away with two goals.

Sugar Land was led by Frank Muscarella, who tallied one goal and one assist. Muscarella scored 14:34 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Zac McKenna assisted on the tally. Sugar Land additionally got points from McKenna, who also registered one goal and one assist and Alex Norwinski, who also had one goal and one assist. Sugar Land also got a goal from Matt DeNure as well. In addition, Sugar Land received assists from Jas Bowling, Trenton Joiner, and Jonathan Adnell, who contributed one each and Matt Cozzan and Keith Allen, who each chipped in two.

Euless' Thomas Bailey stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Euless incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tristan Collins made nine saves before being replaced by Kevin Mackey, who took the loss and made 10 saves. Sugar Land incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.

Sunday: Euless Jr. Stars 1, Sugar Land Imperials 4

Sugar Land had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over Euless.

Sugar Land got the win thanks to a great game by Alex Norwinski, who had one goal and two assists. Norwinski scored 12:51 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Sugar Land. RC Randall picked up the assist.

Sugar Land stifled Euless' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Sugar Land also got points from Matt Cozzan, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Sugar Land also had goals scored by Trevor Wolf and Luca Valenza, who scored one goal each. More assists for Sugar Land came via Matt DeNure, Jonathan Adnell, and Frank Muscarella, who contributed one each.

Euless was led by Ian Linna, who scored the team's only goal. Linna scored 8:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Sugar Land. Nick Snyder assisted on the tally.

Kevin Mackey rejected 16 shots on goal for Sugar Land. Sugar Land incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Euless' starting goalie, Thomas Bailey, made 20 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Everett Yasinski, who stopped four shots. Euless incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
